ABOUT
Day two starts at 4pm with a Screening of the The West Side Burned. At 6pm there will be a conversation moderated by the documentaries very own Dan Andries and feature present day Chicago leaders who will share memories of Dr. King and how West Siders continue moving forward, advancing Dr. King's civil rights and anti-poverty work.
The long awaited concert featuring footage and an expansive music composition list from the documentary begins at 7pm, taking you on a journey from the shores of West Africa, with its talking drum, to the Delta-infused blues of Chicago's West Side. The music celebrates the triumphs of the civil rights movement, the upheaval following Dr. King's assassination, and the anticipation of better days ahead.
Featuring original music by Orbert Davis!
