Africa Out West

Africa Out West celebrates Chicago’s legacy of traditional African diasporic dance and music, bringing together various artistic organizations to honor performance traditions from the Black Atlantic. The inaugural concert will feature Muntu Dance Theatre, Ayodele Drum & Dance, Move Me Soul, and Azania Drum.

Move Me Soul is committed to providing an innovative platform for inner-city youth to train and evolve as the next generation of dancers, choreographers, and teachers. Performers are engaged in dancemaking, storytelling, and character development that allows them to curate their own aesthetics of the past, present, and future.
