ABOUT
Kindrid Civic Arts Forum (KCAF) is proud to partner with One Earth Film Festival to present a screening of 40 Acres, followed by a guided community panel and discussion.
In a post-apocalyptic world shaped by food scarcity, 40 Acres follows a Black family of Canadian farmers — descendants of American Civil War migrants — as they defend their land and livelihood against outside threats. At its core, this thriller explores land stewardship, survival, generational resilience, and what it means to protect community in times of crisis.
While the film exists in a speculative future, the themes are deeply present: rising food costs, food deserts, land ownership, safety, and the urgent need for collective care.
