Rooted in our mission to foster artistic expression and civic engagement that animates the human spirit while centering Black voices—particularly those from the Austin neighborhood and beyond—this event brings together storytelling and reflection in powerful ways.

About the Film: Set in 1932 Clarksdale, Mississippi, Sinners follows identical twins and World War I veterans Smoke and Stack Moore, who return home after years with the Chicago Outfit. Using stolen mob money, they open a juke joint for the local Black community—an act of resistance, reclamation, and celebration. But as music and memory awaken the spirits of the past, they find…
