About the Event

The first of the three-part event series "Sustaining Women, Sustaining Our World", this collaboration is intended to celebrate the work that women do and the many ways that we show up all over the world in response to the beauty, richness, and the needs of our environments. “Women & Sustainable Resourcefulness” is an evening designed to call our attention to how women are integral to the way the earth, the economy, and the community relies on the presence of women. Join us as Ana Garcia-Doyle, executive director of One Earth Collective points us toward the screening of “Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai,” a film that stoically captures the inspiring work of Wangari Maathai and the Kimuka women of Kenya, and the legacy of tree planting toward viability and sustainability in Kenya.

After the film, Executive Director of Kehrein Center for the Arts Foundation (KCAF), Reesheda Graham Washington, will facilitate a conversation with Toni Anderson, CEO of MindfulRant, an organization that cultivates mindfulness and is rooted in participatory, emergent leadership design and consciousness coaching that fosters clarity in strategic direction and supports dynamic Humyn interdependencies. Owner, Toni Anderson, is a southside Chicago native dedicated to fostering meaningful eco-social practice as a roadmap for personal and societal transformation. Toni is a practitioner of wholeness, a healer, an urban ecologist, a spiritualist. Toni has planted freedoms through approaches rooted in cultural, eco-spiritual and generative, participatory design. Toni uses the rich dynamics of natural and social environments to provide Humyns with the tools to be agents of proactive, mindful social change, focused on communities of color.
