ABOUT
Have you heard of Charles Ignatius Sancho? Learn about this fascinating historical figure and get to know bass-baritone Jonathan Woody as Music of the Baroque presents Jonathan Woody in Concert.
One of America's most intriguing and thoughtful singers, Woody performs a program he's crafted around the life and music of Charles Ignatius Sancho, an 18th-century writer, composer, abolitionist, and business owner who was the first Black man to vote in Britain. The program also features songs by other 17th- and 18th-century composers, Woody's own music inspired by Sancho, and more. Members of the Music of the Baroque Orchestra accompany.
Following the performance, attendees will receive a complimentary treat from Austin-based business Sweetest Redemption.
Admission is free; please register in advance so supplies can be determined.
